Man Marries Anime Hologram, Parents Don't Attend

Surrounded by nearly 40 people, Akihiko Kondo married the love of his life this month. There was no walking the bride down the aisle or first dance because the bride, Hatsune Miku, is a virtual reality hologram developed as computer-generated singing software with the persona of a big-eyed, 16-year-old pop star with long, aqua-colored hair.

Surprisingly, his parents didn't come. The 35 year old middle school teacher says the shape of happiness and love is different for each person.

“There definitely is a template for happiness, where a real man and woman get married, have a child and live all together. But I don’t believe such a template can necessarily make everyone happy,” Kondo told Reuters.

The ceremony included the customary exchange of wedding rings. His wife’s ring was placed on the finger of a stuffed doll shaped in her image. Yes, I said doll...

He spent $18K on this wedding! Ok, the video! It's.....bizarre.
