Every now and then the networks like to stage a live musical event. This time, they're going to perform two of the biggest comedies of the seventies live with a star studded cast. ABC will air "Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear's All in the Family and The Jeffersons." tonight on ABC from 8:00 to 9:30pm.. Hollywoodreporter.com says Woody Harrelson will be taking on Carroll O'Connor's famed role of Archie Bunker with Marisa Tomei playing his beleaguered wife Edith. Jamie Foxx will play George Jefferson in the role originally made famous by Sherman Hemsley, with Wanda Sykes as George's wife, Louise, and Will Ferrell appearing as George and Louise's friend, Tom Willis.
The 90 minute live event, produced and hosted by Norman Lear and Jimmy Kimmel, will re-create an original episode from both of the Emmy-winning Lear comedies.“The fact that a group of Oscar winners eagerly agreed to play these iconic characters is a testament to the greatness of these shows and their creator, Norman Lear. To be a part of this is a dream come true for me and for everyone involved," Kimmel said.
