Robert Plant paid a visit to the John Bonham Memorial Statue in the drummer's hometown of Redditch, England. Taking in the Led Zeppelin drummer's memorial, alone at night, he wrote, "Another birthday around the corner...huge loss..."
Bonzo would have turned 71 on May 31st. The statue was unveiled last year in honor of the late drummer's 70th birthday. The massive memorial shows Bonzo providing the beat behind a drum kit and the inscription, “The most outstanding and original drummer of his time, John Bonham’s popularity and influence continue to resonate within the world of music and beyond.”
Robert Plant has said that one of the reasons he's been against a Led Zeppelin reunion tour was because John Bonham could never be replaced. He feels that when Bonzo died, that was the end of the band.
