The David Gilmour Guitar Auction Is Shattering Records!

The long awaited David Gilmour guitar auction is happening today in New York, and right from the start records were shattered. According to GuitarWorld.com, the first guitar on the auction block was the 1969 Martin D-35 Gilmour used on the title track to Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here." The guitar, which was estimated at $10,000 to $20,000, sold for $1,095,000, making it the most valuable acoustic guitar ever.

There was a 4 minute bidding war for the guitar Gilmour played the rhythm part of "Another Brick In The Wall Part 2" on, the Olympic White "#0001" Fender Stratocaster. It ended up going for $1,815,000, setting a new world record for a Strat.
