Sony Pictures released the first trailer for the new Mr. Rogers movie, "A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood" today. The movie is based on a 1998 Esquire article by Tom Junod, about the effect Rogers' optimistic kindness had on millions of people -- and the initially skeptical journalist himself.
Tom Hanks plays the late Fred Rogers, who hosted "Mr. Rogers Neighborhood" for 31 years before retiring in 2001. We see Tom slip into the cardigan, put on the tennis shoes, and sing the theme song perfectly.
The spirit of Fred Rogers will be felt, as “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” was shot in the original studio in Pittsburgh where “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” was filmed. The crew meticulously recreated the sets from the long-running kids show. They even borrowed items out of Fred Rogers’ wardrobe.
"A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood" opens in theaters on November 22nd. Check it out...
