Rutger Hauer, "Blade Runner" Star, Dies At 75

Rutger Hauer has died at the age of 75. His agent Steve Kenis confirmed that he passed away at his home in the Netherlands on July 19th after a short illness. His funeral was held today.

Rutger was a badass! Harrison Ford was the star of the 1982 futuristic classic, "Blade Runner," but Rutger was the scene stealer, portraying the murderous yet soulful Roy Batty, leader of a gang of outlaw replicants. He was a natural at playing vampire and horror roles, starring as Van Helsing in Dario Argento’s “Dracula 3D,” and as the vampire Barlow in the 2004 miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s “Salem’s Lot.” One of my favorites was him playing the psychotic killer in the 1986 movie, "The Hitcher."

Rutger Hauer is survived by his second wife of 50 years, Ineke ten Cate, and a daughter, actress Aysha Hauer.
