Via WCVB.com. The Friendly's demise continues. At their peak in the 1980's they had over 700 restaurants, now there's less than 180, and as Queen sang, "another one bites the dust." The Friendly's on Route 1 in Saugus is closed. There was a sign on the door this morning thanking customers for their business and directing them to other locations.
It's weird. These closings seem to happen in the middle of the night, they leave like The Colts moving from Baltimore to Indianapolis. The next day when you show up for your All American Burger with a chocolate Fribble, they're gone.
Now you're going to have to hit up The Kowloon for a Pu Pu Platter and a Scorpion Bowl instead.
