Tom Petty Died Two Years Ago Today

On September 25, 2017 Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers played the last show of their 53 date, 40th Anniversary Tour at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. A tour that brought him to the Boston Garden that July. Nobody thought that would be the last time we would ever see him perform.

On the evening of October 1st, he suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu, and was rushed to UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica. He died at 8:40 p.m. the next night, after a daylong vigil by his family, friends and bandmates, less than three weeks from his 67th birthday.

In 2010 we were lucky enough to have Tom play our WZLX 25th Birthday Party at the Xfinity Center and it was one of the most memorable birthday bashes we ever had. The Heartbreakers were in top form that night, the crowd singing along to every song.

It's hard to believe he's been gone two years now. So many great songs, it's hard to decide which ones to post!

RIP Tom Petty...
