I don't care where I am, in the ZLX studio, in the car, waiting in the dentist's office, if I hear Phil Collins' "In The Air Tonight," I have to air drum that part that many feel is the greatest drum fill in rock history.
I found this video of Phil playing that part with a camera angle so you can see how he actually did it. The drummer who posted this says it's great to see because it shows that, "the flams on the toms are part of what makes the fill sound so big. Also unique to this video are the double-headed toms. Phil Collins was known for playing a left-handed setup with single-headed toms (concert toms)."
Exactly what I was thinking.
Check out the video of Phil walking over to his drum set to play that part on his farewell tour, and Mike Tyson air drumming it in The Hangover.
