The trailer starts off with, "No one has allegedly killed two people and then played an entire season as a professional athlete.” It's hard to believe he's been gone almost three years, and hopefully, we can learn something more than just what we heard in news reports. The baffling story of Aaron Hernandez will be told on the three part Netflix docuseries, Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez, premiering on January 15th.
From 2007 to 2013, he had been either a suspect or a defendant in six shootings in which three people were killed. All while being a standout player at the University of Florida, then a star with the New England Patriots, who did so well he signed a $39.5 million five year contract extension with the team in 2012.
It all started to unravel with his arrest on June 26th, 2013 for the killing of his friend Odin Lloyd. Found guilty in a trial watched all over New England in 2015, he took his own life in April 2017.
The documentary says it will dig into the "why." How did a boy from Bristol, Connecticut, find his way to drugs, violence, and gangsters, and stay in that lifestyle even after becoming an NFL star?
