Neil young is now officially a U.S. citizen. He was happily waving a mini American flag after his oath ceremony Wednesday at the Convention Center in downtown Los Angeles. America's newest rocker was beaming with Daryl Hannah by his side.
There were some bumps in the road though because of his use of....marijuana! He posted this on his website, “When I recently applied for American citizenship, I passed the test. It was a conversation where I was asked many questions. I answered them truthfully and passed. Recently, however, I have been told that I must do another test, due to my use of marijuana and how some people who smoke it have exhibited a problem.”
This was because of a policy alert that then Attorney General Jeff Sessions put into U.S. Immigration law that said, “An applicant who is involved in certain marijuana-related activities may lack GMC (Good Moral Character) if found to have violated federal law even if such activity is not unlawful under applicable state or foreign laws.”
Neil has big time GMC! And now he's one of us. Check out the photo he posted on his website reading, "I'm Happy To Report I'm In."
