Via wired.com. In the futuristic 2008 movie, "Wall-E," the space cruiser Axiom is filled with passengers who have become overweight blobs void of any muscle, talking into personal screens in front of their face while lounging in high-speed, floating chairs. Well, the future is now!
Segway, the same company that gave us those self balancing personal scooters, debuted their new personal transporter pods at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It's a lounge chair called the S-Pod, but it doesn't float, it's on two wheels using the same self balancing technology. It can reach a speed of 24 mph with a range of 43 miles and can climb angles of up to 10 degrees, so you can go up and down stairs. You brake by shifting the center of gravity and it's impossible to tip over.
