Via nypost.com. Third-grader Jaxson Crossland is the undisputed King of the classic hockey haircut. The 8 year old from Celeste, Texas took home the gold medal at the 2020 Kids Mullet Championships contest.
The competition was hair raising, he had to beat 7-year-old Coloradoan Jude’s flame-colored “Modern Mullet,” (which took home the bronze) 1-year-old Tennesseean Archie’s “Tennessee Top Hat,” and 9-year-old Californian Barrett’s “Covid Campershell.”
This year, the voting was done on Facebook, with Jax taking the top spot and a $500 first prize. In a press release, USA Mullet Championships President Kevin Begola said:
“The contest has blown up with over 20,000 votes from all over the country, and over 50,000 reactions on social media. It has been truly amazing to see these kids get all the spotlight,” he continued, adding, “During these tough times it’s important to have fun. This is exactly what 2020 needed!”
I once flew the freak flag myself, check out these cool mullets! Maybe in 2021 it makes a hairstyle comeback?
