The Yankees Are Playing The White Sox On The "Field Of Dreams" Thursday

Via MLB.com. You don't even have to be a baseball fan to love this. The New York Yankees are taking on The Chicago White Sox in a cornfield on Thursday, and it counts!

Six years in the making, MLB has built a regulation size baseball field in the corn field in Dyersville Iowa that was the setting for the 1989 classic movie, "Field of Dreams," starring Kevin Costner and James Earl Jones. For one night, we'll be transported back to 1989, with rows of corn lining the outfield fence and the little white farmhouse in the background. MLB has built seating for 8,000 fans and you know those seats are impossible to get.

“I was raised to embrace the history of the game, and I think too often we lose parts of it,” White Sox manager Tony La Russa said. “Field of Dreams, it’s a great movie, and it embraces family and what the game’s all about. It’s a very special opportunity. Our guys are really excited to be there.”

They should make relief pitchers go through a corn maze to get to the mound. And remember, none of this would have happened if Ray and Terrence didn't go to Fenway Park and see the stats for "Moonlight Graham" on the old scoreboard in center while they heard a voice say, "go the distance."

MLB Field of Dreams Game presented by GEICO. Coverage begins Thursday August 12th at 6pm on Boston 25.

Please have actor Timothy Busfield walk across the field in the middle of the game screaming that he doesn't see a thing!

Check out the field!!!
